Key takeaways
- All four platforms can rank. They differ in how much control you get over code, robots rules, speed and Arabic pages.
- WordPress gives the most control and the most ways to break things. The hosted builders limit both.
- AI crawler access is partly a platform setting. Squarespace, for example, has a checkbox that asks known AI crawlers to stay away.
- Moving platform is rarely the first fix. We check what can be improved where you are, then show the evidence if a move is really justified.
- No one can guarantee that AI engines will cite you. No source names a platform for our verified results, and we say so on this page.
What can each website builder do for SEO, and where does it stop?
WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow can all produce crawlable, well-structured pages. WordPress offers near-total control but depends on plugins and hosting. Wix and Webflow offer editable robots rules and structured settings, while Squarespace keeps a shared robots file. The right plan depends on what your platform lets you change.
What a Dubai website needs from its platform
The usual platform comparisons often leave out requirements that matter here.
Arabic and right-to-left layout
Some themes and templates handle RTL properly, and others merely flip the text. We test Arabic pages for layout, separate URLs, hreflang and metadata, as well as whether the language switcher can actually be crawled.
Mobile speed on real networks
Visitors here mostly arrive on phones. Video backgrounds, large sliders and heavy page builders can look impressive on an office screen, yet make a poor first impression elsewhere.
WhatsApp and booking add-ons
Chat widgets, booking tools and form plugins are common on UAE sites. Each adds weight, so we measure what they cost and load them in a lighter way.
Who maintains the site afterwards
Many businesses here had a site built by a contractor who has since moved on. Knowing who can change a template or update a plugin shapes what we recommend.
Can AI crawlers read your site? Rendering, schema and bot access by platform
Before ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews can cite a page, their systems must be allowed to reach it and able to read it. Platform settings, security plugins and script-heavy templates can each get in the way, often without the site owner knowing.
Checks and questions owners bring us
- AccessWhy does Perplexity say it cannot access my Wix website?
- SettingsDoes my Squarespace site block ChatGPT, and how do I check?
- PluginCould a WordPress security plugin be stopping AI crawlers from reading my pages?
- RenderingCan AI search tools read a Webflow site with lots of animations?

What we check and change
Your business facts
Name, services, location and contact details made consistent across pages, footers, schema, Google Business Profile and directories, regardless of platform.
Schema within platform limits
Plugin output on WordPress, custom code on Webflow, built-in and custom markup on Wix, and code injection on Squarespace, each tested against the visible page.
Answer-first page structure
A direct answer in real text near the top of the page, with no key information trapped in images, sliders or tabs that load late.
Knowing which sources get cited
We run prompts about your service, then note the directories, publications and forums behind the answers. Your platform has little to do with this part.
Listings and digital PR
Mentions on relevant directories, review sites, trade or local publications and genuine Reddit or forum replies, because a well-built site alone rarely earns citations.
Crawler access testing
We check robots.txt, firewall and CDN settings for OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot, and we view each template with scripts turned off.
Mention and accuracy tracking
A monthly prompt set for your services, recording whether you are named, which page is cited and whether the details are right.
Crawlable is the start. Being cited takes more
Fixing access only removes a barrier. A page that can be read can rank in Google with relevant content and links, while being cited by an assistant usually also needs other sites to confirm what you say. Your website platform affects the first step far more than the second, so changing platform alone seldom changes what AI answers say about you.
What a platform change will not do
No platform or agency can guarantee citations. Google says no special files or markup are required for its AI features, so an AI plugin is not a shortcut. We report access tests, mentions, cited pages and enquiries, and we will tell you if your current platform is good enough.

WordPress SEO services
As a WordPress SEO company we start with what is installed, since plugins and hosting cause most of the problems. Wix, Squarespace and Webflow follow below.
Plugin and theme audit
Find plugins that conflict, duplicate schema or slow pages, then trim the stack without breaking your forms.
Technical SEOHosting and Core Web Vitals
Caching, image handling and page-builder bloat, measured on phones and fixed by template.
Technical SEOSecurity settings and bot access
Check firewall and security plugin rules so they stop bad traffic without blocking search and AI crawlers.
GEOContent structure and schema
Headings, FAQ and service markup, plus direct answers on your main pages, using your SEO plugin correctly.
Technical SEOArabic through WPML or Polylang
Review translated URLs, hreflang and metadata, including the pages your plugin missed.
Local SEO DubaiLocal visibility
Google Business Profile and listings aligned with your site, for businesses that serve Dubai customers.
Wix, Squarespace and Webflow SEO services
A hosted builder takes maintenance off your hands and sets the limits. As a Wix, Squarespace or Webflow SEO agency, we work within those limits and tell you plainly where they matter.
Wix
Wix has a Robots.txt Editor in its SEO dashboard, and a page-level nosnippet setting. It warns that robots edits are advanced and can harm search visibility. We focus on app weight, structure and page settings.
Squarespace
All Squarespace sites share one robots file you cannot edit. Its Crawlers panel has a box to block known AI crawlers, unchecked by default, and Squarespace notes this could reduce chatbot traffic. We check that setting first.
Webflow
Webflow lets you add robots.txt rules in Site settings under SEO and Indexing. It also offers control over markup and custom code. Our concerns are animations, script weight and CMS templates.
All three
Each can produce clean pages for a small or mid-sized business. Arabic setups differ a lot, so we test the live result before committing to any plan.
Ninety days on a builder site
We begin by testing what your platform allows, so that no time goes on recommendations you cannot carry out.
Days 1 to 30
Test the platform
- Review settings, plugins or apps, and templates.
- Test crawler access and view pages without scripts.
- Measure mobile speed on key pages.
- Run the first prompts for your main services.
Days 31 to 60
Fix what can be fixed
- Correct robots, security or crawler settings.
- Remove unused apps, plugins and heavy sections.
- Rewrite key pages with direct answers.
- Add schema using your platform's tools.
Days 61 to 90
Build reach, then decide
- Tidy listings and earn relevant mentions.
- Check Arabic pages if you have them.
- Report rankings, enquiries and AI mentions.
- Decide whether the platform is still holding you back.
Timing, honestly. Access and settings changes take effect quickly, though engines need time to recrawl. Rankings usually take months. If we conclude that your platform is the problem, a migration needs its own plan, and that will extend the timeline.
Proof from technical clean-ups
No study names WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or Webflow, so none of these is a platform result. They are two verified results from our founder's record showing technical and speed work, and one portfolio site case study.

It shows a portfolio site where images and heavy layouts have to be balanced against speed.
Stay on your platform or migrate?
Stay in most cases. Migrating costs money and puts rankings at risk, so it should solve a specific limit that you cannot fix otherwise. These are the questions we use to decide, and the comparison covers each platform.
| Question | WordPress | Wix | Squarespace | Webflow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Edit robots.txt? | Yes, by file or plugin | Yes, built-in editor | No, shared file | Yes, in settings |
| Who maintains it? | You or your developer | Wix | Squarespace | Webflow, with your designer |
| Main SEO risk | Plugin and hosting issues | App weight, less code control | Limited technical control | Animation and script weight |
| Reason to leave | Maintenance is out of hand | A limit blocks your growth | A limit blocks your growth | Editors cannot manage it |
How to choose a WordPress SEO company in Dubai
Any WordPress SEO firm should audit your plugins before proposing more. If you run another builder, ask whether the provider has worked within its limits, since a Squarespace SEO company or Webflow SEO company should know what cannot be changed. We do not rank or compare named agencies.
Worth checking
- They ask which platform and plan you are on before quoting.
- They can explain what your platform will not allow.
- They do not sell a redesign as the default answer.
- They test Arabic pages as crawlers receive them.
- They check AI crawler settings, including security tools.
- They leave you able to edit your own site.
Worth asking
- What would you remove from our site first?
- Could we reach our goals without moving platform?
- How would you test whether AI crawlers can read us?
- What access do you need, and who keeps the logins?
- What happens to your changes after a theme update?
How scope changes by platform
We quote after a free audit and publish no prices. A small builder site often needs a focused review and a few changes, while a large WordPress site with many plugins and languages needs far more.
- Platform, plan and any custom code.
- Number of pages, templates and languages.
- Plugins, apps and third-party widgets.
- Whether you have a developer or designer on hand.
- Whether a redesign or migration is already planned.
You work with the founder, and there are no lock-in contracts. We do not sell migrations as a default. If your builder is already good enough for your needs, a short review may be all that you need from us.
Platform questions
We quote after a free audit and publish no prices. A small site with a clean setup might need a short review, while a large multi-language site with many plugins needs ongoing work. The same applies to Wix, Squarespace and Webflow, where the scope is often smaller.
No platform has a clear advantage on its own. What matters is that crawlers are allowed in, key content is real text and other sites mention you. WordPress and Webflow offer more control, while Wix and Squarespace can do well with less to maintain.
Check Settings, then Crawlers. Squarespace offers a box to block known AI crawlers, which is unchecked by default, and it warns that using it could reduce traffic from chatbot answers. We also check the live robots file, since that shows what crawlers are actually being told.
Yes, as can a firewall or CDN setting. Some rules block unfamiliar bots by default. We test access for the main AI search crawlers and adjust rules without weakening your security. Being readable does not guarantee a citation, but being blocked rules one out.
Not usually for SEO alone. Wix now offers robots editing and many of the common controls. Moving makes sense when you hit a specific limit, such as complex content needs. Any migration brings risk to your rankings, so we check whether fixes on Wix would do first.
Yes, to differing degrees. WordPress is flexible through plugins such as WPML or Polylang, while the hosted builders each have their own way of handling multiple languages. We test the live result for separate URLs, hreflang and right-to-left layout before making any promises.
No. Google says that no special file or markup is required for its AI features, and no plugin can guarantee a mention elsewhere. Useful tools can help with schema or settings, but clear content and third-party mentions matter far more than another install.
