How a Brand-New German SaaS Earned AI Search Visibility in Three Months

A funding-software platform launched in Germany with no backlinks and no presence in AI answers. Three months of answer-first content, citation work and digital PR changed that. The client stays anonymous by request.

The starting point

This SaaS company sells into the European funding space, where grants, subsidies and public programmes dominate the search results. It launched on a clean domain: no links, no history, and no trust signals for search engines or language models to work with.

The product already fitted its market, yet ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews never mentioned it. Government and public-sector domains held many of the informational queries, so out-spending them on authority was never an option. Being the clearest source to quote was the realistic route.

What changed

Classic SEO

Editorial links from European news

Outreach earned coverage on mid-tier EU news sites, written by working journalists.

Human-checked publishing on the blog

Useful articles shipped on a steady schedule, and each one had a person check its accuracy first.

LinkedIn support

The same positioning ran on LinkedIn, which built recognition among professional buyers and lifted brand searches.

AI search and GEO

Country pages built to be quoted

Each target market got a page organised around questions, with short self-contained answers a model can lift in one pass.

An llms.txt file and LLM info page

A plain-language description of the product and its audience gave assistants one unambiguous source for the brand.

A standalone FAQ page

One question per block, so every answer reads as a complete fact away from the page around it.

Placements in best-tool roundups

Listings on high-authority "best tools" articles, a format assistants often draw on for category recommendations.

Helpful replies on Reddit and Quora

Country-specific threads where buyers wanted help got relevant answers, with the product mentioned only where it fitted.

How the work ran, step by step

  1. Set up the on-site sources

Country pages, the FAQ page and the llms.txt file went in first, because everything else needed a clear source to point to.

  2. Start the publishing rhythm

Reviewed blog posts began shipping regularly. Quality was the rule, with volume kept in check.

  3. Borrow reach from trusted platforms

Roundup placements, community replies and LinkedIn posts ran alongside, on sites that already had an audience.

  4. Earn editorial authority

Digital PR ran in parallel. Eight workstreams moved at once across on-site, off-site and authority work, and European government domains also linked to the site, unpaid.

The evidence

Google Search Console
Generative AI features report in Search Console for an anonymised German SaaS, with daily impressions climbing over three months.

Search Console's Generative AI features report, which rolled out in June 2026. Daily impressions start low and uneven, then hold at a much higher level. This is the closest official signal for reach inside Google's AI features.

Organic clicks and GenAI impressions come from Google Search Console. LLM referral visits and signups come from Google Analytics 4. The window is the first three months of work.

AI search outcome

GenAI impressions in Search Console reached 100K in the window. ChatGPT and other assistants sent 200+ referral visits, measured in GA4.

No tool reports how often a brand is cited inside AI answers, or for which prompt. These two figures are proxies, and they are the honest limit of what can be measured today. Because the tactics ran together, no single one can be credited with a specific win.

Lessons for SaaS teams

  1. A new domain can appear in AI answers before it has much authority, provided its pages are the easiest to quote.
  2. Listicles and community threads shape AI recommendations, so they belong in the plan from the first month.
  3. Report proxies you can verify, such as LLM referrals and the GenAI report, and say plainly what they cannot show.
